Alzheimer’s Disease is a progressive brain disease that slowly destroys brain cells. Alzheimer’s is the most common form of dementia and accounts for 60-80% of all dementia cases. Symptoms can vary widely between individuals but include memory loss, difficulty performing daily activities, and changes in judgment, reasoning, behaviour, and emotions. Symptoms usually develop slowly and get worse over time. Although it can be easy to assume memory loss is part of the aging process, Alzheimer’s disease is not a normal part of aging.
Alzheimer’s disease affects not only the individual who is diagnosed but also family members, friends, and caregivers. There is currently no cure for Alzheimer’s disease but there are several medications available that can help with symptoms. However, these medications can affect people differently and not everyone will respond the same way to medications.
Bluewater Clinical Research Group is proud to help contribute to this research and we are actively looking for participants who have a family history of Alzheimer's Disease, have memory concerns, and are between ages 65 - 80 years old.
